DHAKA, Jan 18, 2018 (BN) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said initiatives have been taken to set up hi-tech parks/software technology parks in all divisions and districts for the development of IT/ITES sector and generating employment for a huge number of people.
“Initiatives have been taken to set up hi-tech parks/software technology parks in all divisions and districts under the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority for the development of IT/ITES sector and generating employment,” she said replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury.
The premier informed the House that 5,225 people are now working in the IT/Software Parks which have already started their operation, while employment scope for 2,70,750 people will be created if the construction of the remaining IT/Software Parks is completed.
The Leader of the House said the work on establishing Bangabandhu High-Tech City in Gazipur, Sylhet Electronics City at Companyganj in Sylhet, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib High-tech Park in Rajshahi and Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centre in Natore is going on.
Sheikh Hasina said Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park has already been set up in Jessore. “I inaugurated the park on December 10 last year,” she said.
Besides, she said, the work on establishing seven Sheikh Kamal Training and Incubation Centres at different divisions/districts, IT Business Incubator Centre in Chittagong University and Technology University and IT/Hi-tech Parks at 12 districts is underway.
The Leader of the House said with the setting up these IT parks/software parks, opportunities will be created for development of IT/ITES sector, expansion of market and generating employment for huge number of manpower.
